Statler Gilfillen was born in 1949 in Columbus,
Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from Kent State University during
the time they were shooting students and a Master of Business Administration
from Babson College. He is a registered Architect. While maintaining a long
academic and business career, including part time teaching for 12 years at the
university level, he missed the protest movement of the 1960's, the sexual
revolution (when did it happen?) and the me generation of the 1980's.
Since June 1996, he has been traveling and studying throughout Eastern and
Western Europe. During this period, when not escaping from Albania as it
descended into Kafka style anarchy, traveling Russian trains and fending off
Italian pickpockets, or freezing in a French town, Mr. Gilfillen has been
studying art, architecture and drawing.
The art shown on this web site is an outgrowth of several exhibitions and years
of practice. Currently he resides in Piran, Slovenia.
